Additional Aquatic Services

570-747-8606

Count on Claymore Pond and Lake Management's staff of aquatic professionals to maintain and enhance all aspects of your pond or lake. In addition to our other aquatic management solutions, we offer these professional aquatic services to our clientele.

Decorative Pond Cleaning and Maintenance

Claymore Pond and Lake Management offers a full-service pond maintenance program to keep your decorative pond operating in top shape all season long.

Our program begins with a spring cleanout that involves draining and cleaning of the entire pond, waterfall, and filtration system with a treated water refill. Throughout the summer we will manage for any algae growth and add treated water as needed to adjust for evaporation.

At the conclusion of the season, we will properly close the pond and place the leaf catching netting.

Contact Claymore Pond and Lake Management for all your decorative pond maintenance needs today!

Mosquito Control Solutions

Claymore Pond and Lake Management offers various management practices for our customers to eradicate pesky, disease carrying mosquito and blackfly larvae from taking over your pond. Management options include the use of a bacterial larvicide, fish stocking options and  aeration in ponds and lakes. Contact us today to determine what practice(s) will be best for your pond or lake!

Fish Stocking and Fisheries Management

Claymore Pond and Lake Management offers fish stocking services for supplementing fisheries or for newly established ponds and lakes. We can come up with a fisheries management plan based on needs and goals for your waterbody and fisherman. Contact a biologist to get started on your fisheries management plan today!

Aquatic Plant Surveys

An Aquatic Plant Survey (Macrophyte Survey) is an essential resource in monitoring aquatic vegetation that grows in a waterbody. Samples are taken from different locations throughout the water body and all aquatic vegetation is identified and plant density is recorded. With this information, an aquatic vegetation density map is developed, which is an effective component of Pond and Lake Management.

Macrophyte surveys are vital in ensuring that Invasive Aquatic Plants have not been introduced into a waterbody. Early detection of invasive aquatic plants is vital in ensuring the plant does not take over and quickly outcompete native biodiversity. Invasive aquatic plants enter waterbodies by various means of introduction including waterfowl, flooding of connected waterways, boats, fishing equipment, and dumping of fish aquariums. Once introduced, invasive aquatic plants are aggressive and quickly adapt to their new environment.

Swim Beach Bacteria Management

Don't let elevated levels of E. coli and Harmful Algae Blooms force another beach closure this summer! Claymore Pond and Lake Management can eliminate bacteria related beach closures with the implementation of a swim beach management plan. Our bacteria management plan will alleviate beach closures all summer long without any recreational restrictions.

Pond Sediment Assessments

A assessment of sediment accumulation in a pond is an effective way to measure how much organic matter has been deposited into  a pond and if there is a need for mechanical removing (Dredging).

Biologists will compare measurements of depth to hard pond bottom with depth to soft sediment and analyze how much sediment has accumulated over time.

Pond sediment assessments provide a cost-effective way to slow down sediment deposition through proactive

management options such as aeration, introduction of beneficial bacteria (Bioaugmentation) and sediment buffer Aquascaping.

When a pond is in need of a dredging, a Pond Sediment Assessment is a must in knowing the volume of material needing to be removed.

Aquascaping and Pond Bank Stabilization

Enjoy the beauty that native plants bring to the aesthetics of a pond while combating erosion of pond banks. The roots of   Emergent Aquatic Vegetation (EAV) provide a natural anchor to combat degrading pond banks and serve as an effective buffer that filters excessive nutrient runoff  entering a waterbody. The vegetative buffer also acts as a natural deterrent for nuisance geese, resulting in a decrease in nutrient runoff.

Nutrient Remediation Services

Ponds with elevated levels of phosphorus and nitrogen suffer from excessive algae and plant production. As a result of eutrophication (nutrient overload), water quality suffers significantly, the risk of oxygen related fish kill increases, as well as increased occurrence cyanotoxin producing harmful algae blooms (HABs).

Through the use of a product called Phoslock, algae producing Phosphorus can be inactivated from a usable to non-usable form. This nutrient binding product is highly effective in reversing eutrophication without any adverse effects to aquatic life.

Triploid Grass Carp Stocking and Permit Preparation

Grass carp are stocked in ponds that have an abundance of aquatic vegetation, as a method of biological control. Many states allow  the stocking of sterile triploid grass carp after

the proper permit has been acquired enabling their stocking.

In some instances, Grass Carp can provide an effective

means of controlling submerged and floating aquatic vegetation without the use of aquatic pesticides. However,

triploid grass carp do not consume filamentous or planktonic algae.
